Musk’s AI company ❎

Remember when Musk bought 10,000 GPUs last week?

Well, now we know why.

Elon recently created a new company focused on AI - called X.AI. The company was incorporated last month in Nevada, and currently, Musk is listed as the director. Jared Birchall, director of Musk’s family office, is listed as the secretary.

The name of Twitter was recently changed to X Corp in company filings, which hints at his plan to create an “everything app” under the “X” brand.

Musk has also openly opposed OpenAI, an AI organization he co-founded in 2015 but left in 2018. He’s brought up concerns about the company such as OpenAI “training AI to be woke” and them being “effectively controlled by Microsoft.”Many are scratching their heads after Musk recently signed a letter asking for a pause on “giant AI experiments”. Maybe this is a chance for Elon to catch up in the generative AI race.

What do you think?

BabyAGI vs. AutoGPT 🆚

Autonomous agents are all the hype in AI right now. Auto-GPT and BabyAGI are two of the biggest players, let’s break them down.

What is BabyAGI? An open-source platform designed to train and evaluate various AI agents. The platform utilizes GPT-4, LangChain, OpenAI API, and Pinecone. The workflow consists of four steps: task execution, result enrichment, task creation, and task prioritization.

What is AutoGPT? An open-source Python application that uses GPT-4 to act autonomously. When given a goal, it’ll attempt to achieve it by breaking the task into sub-tasks and using the internet and other tools.

What’s the big difference between the models? The main difference is their approach to completing goals. BabyAGI uses GPT-4 with LangChain and Pinecone to create new agents to complete tasks. AutoGPT uses GPT-4 to create code and utilizes GPT-3.5 as a virtual artificial memory space.

Who wins? Well, it’s complicated.

AutoGPT is good, however, many users have complained about it overthinking things and getting stuck on smaller details. On the other hand, BabyAGI doesn’t have access to the internet, which limits the platform to its existing knowledge.

Google on the future of AI đź”®

Like many other tech companies, Google has been obsessing over AI over the past weeks.

Microsoft’s Bing has been the biggest threat to Google’s search business over the past decades. Samsung even considered replacing Google with Bing as the default search engine on its devices. An estimated $3 billion in revenue is at stake with the Samsung contract, a similar contract with Apple is worth $20 billion of annual revenue.

Google has been worried about AI competitors since OpenAI released ChatGPT last November. Two weeks after its launch, Google created a task force to build AI products. Now, modernizing the search engine has become one of the main focuses of AI technology at Google.

DeepMind, Google’s AI research lab, has been working on AI projects for years. The integration of new projects into Google’s businesses has been slow, however, with the recent adoption of AI we expect this to change.

Do you think Google’s empire is at risk of falling or will they catch up?

That’s it for today, we’ll see you back here tomorrow!
