Music To My Ears

Google is transforming the music industry with its new AI model that can turn text into music.

Looks like Drakeā€™s ghostwriter is gonna need a new job.

According to a research paper on Github, the AI model is called MusicLM.

The AI ā€˜can be conditioned on both text and a melody in that it can transform whistled and hummed melodies according to the style described in a text caption.ā€™

Hereā€™s an example of a ā€˜Rich Captionā€™:

ā€˜A rising synth is playing an arpeggio with a lot of reverb. It is backed by pads, sub bass line and soft drums. This song is full of synth sounds creating a soothing and adventurous atmosphere. It may be playing at a festival during two songs for a buildup.ā€™

Check out the tune it made here.

The researchers stated, ā€˜Our experiments show that MusicLM outperforms previous systems both in audio quality and adherence to the text description.ā€™

Issa vibe.

Whatā€™s Baidu been Building?

Last week we talked about Sparrow, Googleā€™s response to ChatGPT.

You can read about it here.

Baidu, also known as ā€˜Chinaā€™s Googleā€™ is set to release its very own AI chatbot.

Weā€™re getting DĆ©jĆ  vu.

According to a Bloomberg article, the AI will be integrated into the search engine and built off Baiduā€™s Ernie system.

The Ernie system is a ā€˜large-scale machine-learning model thatā€™s been trained on data over several years.ā€™

Although the AI chatbot doesnā€™t have a name yet, itā€™s still gaining hype.

Shares of Baidu jumped as much as 5.8% after the Bloomberg article was released.

ChatGPTā€™s 2-month check-in

Itā€™s already been 2-months since ChatGPT dropped.

Hereā€™s what happened so far:

  • Academic Uncertainty: The AI chatbot has been used to pass exams, write papers, and cheat on assignments. It doesnā€™t seem like thereā€™s any stop in sight.

  • Search Engine Anxiety: Companies like Google and Baidu are rushing to release ChatGPT competitors to even out the playing field. Meanwhile, other tech giants such as Microsoft have begun investing billions into the technology.

  • Creative Crunch: Poems, scripts, and novels have all been created using the technology. Many have questioned the ethics of using ChatGPT to create art.

Itā€™s been chaotic since ChatGPT dropped.

Looking back, the release of the internet, the launch of the iPhone, and the rise of crypto were all times of chaos.

Although history doesnā€™t repeat itself, it sure does rhyme.

That's it for today. We'll see ya back here tomorrow!
