Google launches Bard 🚀

Over the past months, Google has watched from the sidelines as numerous companies have released AI chatbots.

On Tuesday, they stepped onto the field with the release of their own chatbot called Bard.

Google is taking a different approach with the release of its AI chatbot, making it very clear the platform may be unpredictable and sometimes untrustworthy.

What are the big differences between Bard and ChatGPT?

  • Drafts: Bard produces several different responses (“drafts”) to each prompt whereas ChatGPT only produces one response.

  • Responses: Bard can pull responses from the internet, allowing it to stay up to date. ChatGPT is run on the Generative Pre-training Transformer-4 (GPT-4) platform, which has a knowledge base that was cut off in September 2021.

  • Coding: ChatGPT’s ability to generate complex code is one of the hallmark features that made the AI chatbot popular. Bard is “still learning code” according to Google.

  • Conversation Retention: ChatGPT has the ability to remember previous conversations, however, it doesn’t use past responses to form responses. Bard’s retention ability is “purposefully limited for now” according to Google.

We think ChatGPT is superior, for now.

NVIDIA’s new cloud tools ☁️

Nvidia recently announced a set of cloud services designed to run generative AI models. The services will help businesses build and run AI models based on custom data and created for “domain-specific tasks.”

Each cloud service will be under the Nvidia AI Foundations brand.

  • Nvidia Nemo: for language models. Developers can add domain-specific knowledge and functional skills to text-generating models. Use cases include customer service, enterprise search, and chatbots.

  • Nvidia Picasso: for images, video, and 3D content generation. Developers can build text-to-image, text-to-video, and text-to-3D object models. Customers can train and deploy pre-trained models from Nvidia or optimize and run their own models.

“Nvidia AI Foundations let enterprises customize foundation models with their own data to generate humanity’s most valuable resources - intelligence and creativity,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said. “Generative AI is driving the fast adoption of AI and reinventing countless industries.”

We couldn’t agree more.

What is Bing Image Creator? 📷

Last month, Microsoft rolled out an AI-powered Bing search.

It was eventful. Within days the chatbot had been caught threatening and harassing users. Testers even discovered the chatbot’s “alternative personality” called Sydney.

Microsoft is back, this time with the announcement of Bing Image Creator, a new generative AI image tool. The platform can generate pictures based on your own words.

Bing Image Creator will be fully integrated into the Bing chat experience for those in Bing preview. The platform will also be available in Microsoft Edge, making it the first browser with an integrated AI-powered image generator.
