Discord’s new AI features 🗣️

Everyone’s favorite place to hang out online, Discord, is getting a new set of AI tools.

So what’s in store? Discord is updating its pre-existing chatbot, Clyde, with new OpenAI ChatGPT technology. The new chatbot can be accessed from any channel by typing @Clyde in a server.

Clyde will also be able to:

• Start a thread for your friends to hang out in

• Recommend playlists

• Access GIFs and emojis

The AutoMod moderation tool is also getting an OpenAI update. AutoMod will use the new AI tech to find and alert moderators whenever server rules are broken.

A new AI-generated conversation summaries feature will also be released. The new feature will bundle message threads into topics so users can efficiently get up to date on topics of interest.

Discord will also launch an AI incubator for developers wanting to build AI on the platform. The launch is a part of Discord’s $5 million commitment to expand the platform’s developers and startups.

GPT-4 on the horizon 🚨

We’ve been spoiled by GPT-3 and GPT-3.5, the LLMs that power our favorite AI chatbot, ChatGPT.

Hold onto your hats, because GPT-4 might be launched this week.

Andreas Braun, CTO of Microsoft Germany, might have slipped last week while talking at the AI in Focus - Digital Kickoff event.

“We will introduce GPT-4 next week, there we will have multi-modal models that will offer completely different possibilities - for example videos,” he said.

What does multi-modal mean? Modality deals with what input type an LLM can operate in. Currently, GPT-3 and GPT-3.5 can only operate in one modality, text. GPT-4 will encompass text, speech, images, and video.

GPT-4 will be significantly more capable than GPT-3 and GPT-3.5, check out this visual.

GPT-3 is trained on 175 billion parameters. GPT-4 is estimated to be trained on over 100 trillion parameters.

Google should be worried.
